David Broder is the dean of progressive conventional wisdom. In his column today, Mr. Policy Hits a Wall, he makes a statement that is so misguided, that , to paraphrase Wolfgang Pauli, it is not even wrong:
Obama, budget director Peter Orszag and health czar Nancy-Ann DeParle grasp the intricacies of the health care system as well as any three humans, and they could write a law to make it far more efficient.
The arrogance of such a statement is only surpassed by its stupidity. The idea that three people, none of whom have any particular expertise in the actual business of health care know the intricacies of the system is beyond ridiculous. It would be infuriating but at the moment I am simply too stunned by the display of magnificent incomprehension from David Broder to be irate.
