This week, the winning Council post was Empire and Apocalypse by Dymphna at Gates of Vienna. She is rather pessimistic that the worst can be avoided in the current conflict between the modern world and Islamic fascism, and explains why she feels that way. In second place was a tie between Soccer Dad's exploration of the issues involved in Targeted killings, moral consideration and Joshua Pundit's reminder that there is still a real genocide going on, Meanwhile, in Darfur....
Among the non-Council posts, Kobayashi Maru won with his post, Check or Checkmate? Death by Cop on the Global Stage, in which he raised one of the most crucial questions about our current war: what are the internal contradictions of Islamic fascism that we might be able to leverage into undermining that dangerous ideology? In second place was When teaching school is like... a divine comedy, by A Shrewdness of Apes; if you have forgotten high school, follow your gifted guide, Ms. Cornelius, channeling Dante, through the Nine Circles of High School Hell.
As always, all the nominees can be found at the Watcher of Weasels and all will reward your time and effort.
