This week's winning Council post was an introspective piece, We Could Be Heroes, by Callimachus at Done With Mirrors. It raised questions all of us may have to face at some time and is worth pondering. In second place was A Few Points That Are Not Morally Equivalent by AbbaGav, which should put an end to the "moral equivalence" nonsense that has so damaged the critical faculties of so many people; unfortunately, it probably will make minimal impact to those who need to believe in such destructive and dangerous foolishness.
Among the non-Council posts, Gagdad Bob at One Cosmos won with Israel Has No Right to Exist. His closing point deserves to be quoted:
Israel doesn't have the right to exist. Rather, it has the obligation to exist--not for her sake, but for ours. And yes, for the sake of the genocidal fanatics who wish to destroy it, for the sun shines even on the wicked. I mean, even Juan Cole and Pat Buchanan like polio vaccine, right?
In second place was a tie between A photojournalist weighs in on the Adnan Hajj scandal at The Shape of Days, a helpful primer on how such journalistic malfeasance can occur, and Islamist bandwagons by Abu Aardvark, who looked at how the competition between various Islamists leads to escalation among them.
As always all the nominees can be found at the Watcher of Weasels and all will reward your time and effort.
