Blogging will most likely be very light this weekend, but there are lots of interesting developments to watch for. If you have learned over the last few years to read in between the lines of the LSM, the next week should have some fascinating developments.
The UN report on the Hariri assassination is out; the electronic version left available all the editing changes, and strangely enough, then names of various members of Bashar Assad's inner circle somehow were edited out in between the time the author sat down to meet with Kofi Annan and the time the meeting ended:
Mr Annan had pledged repeatedly through his chief spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, that he would not change a word of the report by Detlev Mehlis, a German prosecutor. But computer tracking showed that the final edit began at about 11.38am on Thursday — a minute after Herr Mehlis began a meeting with Mr Annan to present his report. The names of Maher al-Assad, General Shawkat and the others were apparently removed at 11.55am, after the meeting ended.
Patrick Fitzgerald's grand jury looking in to the Valerie Plame game is ending this week and we will soon learn if any indictments are forthcoming. If you think this is just about the purposeful and malicious leak of an undercover CIA agent's name, you haven't been paying attention. Macsmind has been on this case for a long time and has had some impressive posts about it. I tend to think he is onto something when he says:
Actually though, I've been on this story since it broke, although I have only been able to blog it since this last Summer. Yet over the last two years I have aquired rheams of documentation on this case, and even spent a little time during the 2004 election in South Florida "under cover" working with the DNC and MoveOn, where I essentially got to the truth of the Plame Game (you wouldnt believe how many talked openly of the Game at the time - almost bragging). More of that forthcoming.
Yet I, lke giGenova think Fitzgerald has figured it out, thus if indictments are coming, they may not be going to whom the MSM thinks they are.
People and bureaucracies hate change, especially change that is forced upon them, and they will do everything in their power to sabotage those who try to engineer a change in the bureaucratic culture. This could very well be part of a rogue-CIA versus the Bush WH battle which has been going in since 9/11; we will see soon enough.
The Able Danger story fits into the same rogue-CIA versus the Bush WH saga. The Strata-Sphere has been on top of this story; this is from today's brief post:
As one of our readers pointed out, the person who apparently withheld key portions of the Able Danger story from the 9-11 Commission was a Dietrich Snell. Now I had not seen any direct connection to Jamie Gorelick’s wall yet on Able Danger - though I am positive the general Clinton approach, of which the Gorelick is simply a major element of, did play a role. But it turns out Dietrich Snell is the lead of Commissioner Gorelick’s staff. For those who may not have read or seen the entire floor speech it is available here (transcript) and here (video). Every recent Able Danger link is found here at QT Monster’s (an incredible list of links).
Start there and go to some of his other recent stories about Able Danger; you will be intrigued and not disappointed. Much of this goes back to the 90's when history didn't end but the partying was non-stop. We paid the bill on 9/11, lots of people have managed to slink away untouched, others are still fighting to preserve their prerogatives and cover their a**es ... keep your eyes on Able Danger.
That is all for today. We are off to pick up our new Yellow Lab, yclept "Wash."
[Sorry about yclept, but I have always loved that word-SW]
