10 days ago I wrote a note to my Senior Senator expressing my disgust at Senator Durbin's remarks comparing our efforts at Gitmo with the Nazis, the Gulag, and Pol Pot. I then sent a modified version of the same note to my Junior Senator, Ms. Clinton. Since then, Durbin has made his crocodillianly tearful, hardly-heartfelt, non-apology apology and apparently my two Senators felt that that was the end of the matter.
Needless to say, neither Senator has responded to this constituent. I am not surprised, but I am disappointed.
I closed my note with the following:
We are at war, Senator. If you do not think we are at war, convince me of your position; otherwise, tell your colleagues to stop impeding our military in their efforts to win this war.
Nothing has occurred to change my mind...my disgust with our "disloyal opposition" grows.
